In Part 1 of this series (our previous blog post), we discussed the reasons why you may need to strip your log home. During this Part 2, we will state the reasons behind a re-coat over starting from scratch.

PART 2: RECOAT

1) Re-coating is possible if your current stain is still intact.  This means it hasn’t discolored or begun to peel.  This would require you are currently pleased with the color of your home.  But keep in mind, on any re-coat, the color will darken slightly on subsequent coats.

2) Re-coating is possible even if you don’t know the EXACT finish on your home. It can be determined knowing if the finish is oil-based or water-based.  Some products are compatible to go over a variety of different stains.

3) A re-coat will be possible, of course, if you are on our continued maintenance program.  One of the greatest values we bring to our clients is the continuity of being in business and therefore being able to serve you and your home with consistency.  The value of this can only be fully realized whenever you end up stripping a home due to being unaware of what the finish is, because there is no continuity of the service provider.

We hope this helps you to understand the services we offer to you. Give us a call or fill out an online estimate request for further information!
